Now Hiring – Pharmacy Tech

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Technician III and Pharmacist, this job is responsible for preparing unit dose medications, compounds, non-sterile mixtures, unit dose patient cassette units, for computer order entry, and for providing technical support as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare drug products for checking and dispensing by pharmacist, preparation includes selecting and preparing unit dose medication, compounding, repackaging and drawing up patient-specific doses; assure accuracy of the preparation for checking by pharmacist; maintain professional/ethical standards by complying with laws and regulations related to pharmacy-practice, using good professional judgment, exhibiting reliability and credibility, demonstrating empathy for patients, and maintaining confidentiality; and complete required documentation; Answer telephones and assist pharmacist with responding to inquiries. Perform computer entry for missing doses, patient charge and credits and other documentation. Deliver or restock medications; assist in maintaining overall cleanliness and organization of work areas as well as maintaining a continuous level of readiness for inspection by external groups; perform other duties and special projects as required.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required; one year vocational/technical school degree is preferred.

Licenses & certifications

Certification as a Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Registration is preferred. Maintenance of CPhT is preferred.
Experience

No experience is required, however, one to two years of previous experience is preferred.

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities

The ability to hear and communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner on the phone and in person. The ability to interact with peers, patient caregivers, patients/families, and other customers in a manner that represents Kearney Park Pharmacy’s positively. The ability to use a personal computer and related software applications.

Physical demands

Significant portions of daily assignment involve prolonged standing, transporting material, equipment, patients, or lifting, moving or carrying heavy materials (check one: 10 lbs. or more but less than 20 lbs. ___, 20 lbs. or more but less than 30 lbs.____, 30 lbs.___, 31 lbs. or more ____) for intermittent periods throughout the day.
