kpprx1 • Apr 20, 2018

As flowers bloom during spring, so do the dreaded seasonal allergies. It’s all too common to experience its symptoms during this time of the year. About 7% of US adults experience seasonal allergies, wherein they experience stuffy nose, itchy eyes, and sneezing.

Here at Kearney Park Compounding Pharmacy , we believe that it is essential to come up with your action plan to deal with the springtime blues.

Keep your environment cool.

Shut the windows and turn on the air conditioner if you have to. At this point, avoid using a fan because it can quickly whirl around pet hair and dust.

Avoid the wind.

Pollen easily travels. If it’s windy outside, stay at home or prefer going to an indoor park or restaurant instead of hitting it off outdoors.

Keep the grass well-trimmed.

Always see to it to keep the lawn tidy. Make sure to use a dust mask to avoid breathing in pollen. Once you get back indoors, strip it off as pollen can easily stick to the fabric.

Try to wear shades or protective eyewear.

Wearing shades keeps the pollen out at the same time protects your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun.

Hit the shower.

Make sure to shower before you hit the covers to rinse off any allergens that may be left on your body. Your hair and sides of your arm can easily carry remaining allergens, i.e. pollen.

Watch what you eat.

Have a diet that can fight off spring allergies. Nuts, apples, red grapes, tomatoes are the best foods to combat it.

Hit the drugstore.

Try OTC remedies such as antihistamines and eye drops. Have an extra dose of vitamin C as well. Just stay away from nasal sprays as it can easily get one addicted.
