What are Lift Chairs?

A lift chair is a powered chair that safely assists patients in standing up from a seated position, and vice versa. It looks like regular chairs, but is equipped with a motor that mechanically tilts and lifts forward or backward. Most lift chairs today can be conveniently operated via remote control. You can choose from three types of lift chairs: an infinite position, two-position, and three-position. Infinite position lift chairs can recline parallel to the floor while having separate motors for the footrest and backrest. The two-position lift chair has a single motor that reclines to a 45-degree angle. The three-position lift chair also run on a single motor but is capable of reclining further to a nearly flat position. At Kearney Park Compounding Pharmacy, we have an extensive catalog of industry-leading lift chairs that are available at affordable prices. Benefits of a Lift Chair

  • Retained Independence - Lift chairs give patients a feeling of independence as they can stand and sit safely on their own. This lessens the risk of developing chronic disease and improves their mental well-being, which reduces the risk of anxiety and depression.

  • Injury Prevention - Using a lift chair reduces the likelihood of sustaining an injury as it makes rising much easier. Having multiple positions in the lift chair also lessens the user’s chances of getting pressure sores.

  • Improved Posture – Lift chairs are also beneficial for patients with arthritis, back pain, and similar conditions as they can position the chair to reduce the strain on sore muscles and joints.

  • Faster Recovery - Patients who are injured or have recently gone under surgery may find lift chairs to help boost the recovery process as it lessens the effort needed when standing up and sitting down as compared to using regular chairs. The footrest can also be elevated to reduce the swelling of injured legs and feet.

  • Increased Blood Circulation - The reclined positions of three-position and infinite position lift chairs are beneficial to your blood flow. Some lift chairs can even raise your feet slightly higher than the head while reclined, which relieves the pressure on your lower back and helps your blood circulate better.
